What are you most excited about for the 2023 Women’s World Cup?
Wow, there are so many things I’m excited about! This is my first WC, this is my first time traveling to New Zealand, and this is my first time covering a major sporting event as an independent journalist. All of that, plus meeting new people and being able to have this adventure, are just off the charts!
You’re a journalist and communications consultant. What are your top 3 priorities for World Cup preparations?
Connecting with other writers and editors, securing assignments, and learning more about social media videos.
What advice would you give someone who wants to become a journalist in the soccer industry?
Practice your craft and write every day. Plus, network like crazy. Meeting people, building relationships, and having them know what your strengths are and how you can help them is the best way to land work.
What impact do you think more women and unrepresented folks working in soccer will have on equity in the industry? We’re already seeing an impact. Representation matters. Underrepresented communities are finally seeing themselves in the sport, and this is inspiring them to believe they belong. I believe the strides that have been made in the last five years are only the beginning. This train has left the station, and there’s no going back – only forward.
