MEET IDA SPORTS

Co-founded by four-time Guinness World-Record holder, entrepreneur and WIS Expert Member, Laura Youngson, IDA Sports is the footwear company our industry desperately needed. Their shoes are designed to accommodate the nuances of the female athlete’s foot because women and girls have waited long enough to be prioritized by sportswear companies. Ida is on a mission to make the best boots in the world for female athletes and we couldn’t be more stoked to partner with them!

IDA DESIGN FOR YOU

Ida Sports Co-founder, Laura Youngson

Ida knows that women aren’t just small men who like pink, shocker! They’re an inclusive forward-thinking team of women who have designed performance footwear for female athletes, based on feedback from female athletes and expert advice from podiatrists and physical therapists. Ida builds sportswear with YOU in mind!

“Scientific research tells us that a woman’s foot has different requirements to a man’s and yet, for millions of women, football boots persist as a smaller-sized version of those designed for men.”  Read more about the game-changing design of Ida products in this article by the Telegraph.

LEVEL UP YOUR GAME WITH IDA

Ida currently offers the Ida Classica firm ground cleat as well as the Ida Spirit futsal or indoor shoe, which looks saaweet for everyday wear or as a coaching shoe.

Boots are available online at idasports.com, online at soccer.com, and in select Dick’s Sporting Goods stores throughout the country. Due to popular demand, Ida also has a vegan cleat and a turf shoe on the way later this summer.

WHAT IDA HAS TO SAY ABOUT THE PARTNERSHIP

“When we first connected with Women In Soccer, we immediately felt aligned in our values and work within the game we love. We’ve always said that Ida is about “more than a shoe” and really about community and empowerment. WIS lives those values and has cultivated such an incredible community online and IRL, that it made so much sense to partner up. We love sharing resources and ideas, and just spreading the word about their incredibly engaged Slack channel, virtual events, Career Fair, and inclusive community.”  – Laura Youngson, Ida co-founder.

IDA x WIS PICK UP GAMES

Ida pickup with WIS and Brooklyn FC

Ida is setting up women’s pickup nights this coming spring and summer throughout the country, where WIS members and women in the community can meet up IRL to connect and simply PLAY! Dallas, Minneapolis, Boston, and Philly are next up, so if you’d like to help us organize a field location for a few hours, and get the word out to players and coaches and fans in your area, reach out to [email protected] about becoming a co-host.

IDA TALKS INVESTMENT AT THE WIS CAREER FAIR

Ida Sports began taking on investment last fall through their participation in Stadia Ventures’ sports-focused accelerator program, and they will also be opening a seed round later this spring. Value-aligned investors are a priority for Ida, which their co-founder Laura Youngson recently spoke about on LinkedIn as she navigates pregnancy and entrepreneurship! Laura has a lot of industry expertise to share and she will be giving the WIS squad a hot take on investment strategy at our career fair on the 20th of April, be sure to save your spot.

IDA x EQUAL PLAYING FIELD x WIS

Guinness World Record for highest altitude football match ever on top of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Fun fact about Laura Youngson, she also co-founded Equal Playing Field Initiative and has set 4 Guinness World Records including playing the highest altitude football match ever on top of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Equal Playing Field advocates for opportunity, equality, and respect for women throughout the world. This summer, in conjunction with the Women’s Euros in London, Equal Playing Field will host another summit to discuss the hard topics facing women’s football from the grassroots to the pros and beyond. The WIS team will also be in the house so if you’re going to be in London for the Euros, save the dates for July 28-29 and stay tuned for more information coming this spring.

EPF and Ida are attempting their (7th !!) Guinness World Record. And they need our help! They are attempting the record for the most consecutive penalties kicked in multiple venues. The current record is 3243 people. Sign-up if you’re interested in getting involved (You can be ANYWHERE in the world!).
