MEET SOUTH BRONX UNITED
South Bronx United uses soccer as a vehicle for social change, combining athletics with academic support, college access, mentoring, immigration legal services, and more. Since launching in 2009, SBU has reached over 10,000 students and has accumulated a 100% high school graduation rate, a 94% college matriculation rate, and 74 bachelor degrees (held by SBU Academy Grads)! Their impact is incredible.

WIS x SBU
WIS co-founder Courtney Carroll Levinsohn and life partner Paul Levinsohn have been long-time supporter of South Bronx United, from providing resources to support their immigration service offerings to supporting the launch of the first ever girls-centered soccer programming at SBU. When WIS launched, South Bronx United entered as a founding partner. Our goals at WIS for SBU are to:
- Create structures of support for SBU alumni
- Increase female coaching staff at SBU
- Increase exposure opportunities for SBU programming & sponsorship
MEET THE FOUNDER:
ANDREW SO – Prior to founding South Bronx United in 2009 with his wife Steph, Andrew served as a mathematics and special education teacher and administrator at New Day Academy, a public secondary school in the Morrisania neighborhood of the Bronx. He also supported several New York City public schools and their teachers as a math instructional coach. Over the past two decades, Andrew has worked with Bronx youth in other capacities from summer counselor to guidance counselor to athletic coach. He holds a D-level coaching license from the United States Soccer Federation and has coached athletes of various ages and levels.

From volunteering as a coach to hosting your next local NYC tournament at their new 3,000 square foot Clubhouse, South Bronx United has so many ways for you to get engaged. They also need our support! If it weren’t for organizations like SBU, rising youth in the South Bronx would not have the support to assimilate into the community with less hassle, adapt as a student where English is not their second language, and/or access tools and resources for college or life beyond high-school. Every dollar goes into the programming
