I haven’t laced up my cleats in years. Can I still join?

Of course! Once a soccer player, always a soccer player.

I’ve never played but am a big fan. What about me?

If you love the game, we are happy to have you. Welcome!

I’m confused—is this site for professional networking or more of a social thing?

It’s both. Use the network in whatever way works for you. Look for a new job, or a new team, or maybe some new friends to attend a game with. Or all three.

I’m not sure what kind of membership to choose. Help!

If you’re here mainly to enjoy our content, check out the job board, or connect with others, a Community Membership is for you. If you have wisdom to share through a workshop, article or blog post, or by appearing on our podcast, an Expert Membership is the way to go. If you’re still not sure, drop us a note at and we’ll help you decide.

Can I join if I don’t work in the soccer industry?

Absolutely. (And if you’d like to offer insight into your field, please consider becoming an Expert Member.)

My husband coaches our daughter’s team and is a huge fan of the women’s game. Can he sign up?

Yes. Men are eligible to become Ally Members if two women within the WIS network vouch for their support of gender equity. (In that spirit, our Ally Members can post jobs but won’t be able to view the job board.)

How do I connect with other members?

Through our Slack channels, or if their playercards include direct contact information. We will also regularly host interactive events. And, you can join our partners’ events and scout out other WIS members while you’re there.

How do I post an opening at my company to the job board? And can I post a job that has nothing to do with soccer?

Eventually we will have a dedicated submit button for this, but for now please email us a link to the job opening, the name of the organization, and the job title at We will prioritize soccer/sports-related posts, but listings in all industries are welcome.

I have soccer friends who live outside of the United States. Can they join?

I’m pretty high up in my company. If I sign up for this, am I going to be bombarded by emails from people looking for a job?

Only if you want to be. Making your contact information public is optional, so it’s up to you.

Can my daughter become a member?

If she is over 18, yes.

I’m all signed up. What do I do now?

Jump in and explore! Our goal is to make the WIS membership experience easy and fun, so please drop us a note at if you have any questions or suggestions.

How do I share my resources with other WIS members?

Everyone is encouraged to share resources in the appropriate Slack channel, and Expert Members can also share them through WIS custom programming.
