Frequently asked questions

I haven’t laced up my cleats in years. Can I still join?

Of course! Once a soccer person, always a soccer person. WIS’ work is about making the soccer industry a more inclusive place.

I’ve never played but am a big fan. What about me?

If you love the game, we are happy to have you. Welcome! WIS’ work is about making the soccer industry a more inclusive place.

Is this site for professional networking or more of a social thing?

We focus our resources and tools on professional development, and we also host member socials. Use the network in whatever way works for you. Look for a new job, or a new team, or maybe some new friends to attend a game with. Or all three!

Have any WIS members been hired through the network?

Yes! Many. We’ve highlighted a few success stories. Check out one of our members’ WIS wins here.

I’m not sure what kind of membership to choose. Help!

If you’re here mainly to enjoy our content, check out the jobs board, or connect with others, a Community Membership is for you. If you have wisdom to share through a workshop, article or blog post, or by appearing on a WIS show, an Expert Membership is the way to go. If you’re still not sure, drop us a note at [email protected] and we’ll help you decide.

Can I join if I don’t work in the soccer industry?

Absolutely. (And if you’d like to offer insight into your field, please consider becoming an Expert Member.)

My dad coaches a women’s team at a university, and my co-ed teammate is a huge fan of the women’s game. Can they sign up?

Yes. Men are eligible to become Ally Members if two women vouch for their support of gender equity. (In that spirit, our Ally Members can post jobs but won’t be able to view the jobs board.)

How do I connect with other members?

Through our Slack workspace, or their playercards. We will also regularly host virtual and in-person events. And, you can join our partners’ events and scout out other WIS members while you’re there.

How do I post an opening at my company to the jobs board?

Eventually we will have a dedicated submit button for this, but for now please follow these three easy steps to get your job uploaded to our jobs board. We prioritize soccer/sports-related roles, but listings in all industries are welcome.

I have soccer friends who live outside of the United States. Can they join?

Yes.

Can my daughter become a member?

If she is over 18, yes.

I’m all signed up. What do I do now?

Jump in and explore! Our goal is to make the WIS membership experience easy and fun, so please drop us a note at [email protected] if you have any questions or suggestions.

How do I share my resources with other WIS members?

Members can share resources in Slack, at events and through WIS programming. Get posting!
