WIS WIN FOR SOPHIA!

Our gratitude campaign this season for our WIS members who are making a special impact in soccer continues today with our shout out to Sophia Achar

Kudos to you Sophia for landing the NWSL Championship media internship position with FindHerFootball. What an incredible way to be part of the ending of this historic NWSL season! We love to see more women covering the media of this beautiful game.

Sophia has worked in soccer before, but this was her first time working for FindHerFootball and specifically working at an NWSL Championship Final. Her first exposure to the internship position was on the WIS social media handles. When we asked Sophia in her own words how WIS helped her successfully secure the job she shared,

“they brought visibility and attention to this amazing opportunity that I otherwise would not have found.”

WIS connects all different types of organizations with candidates looking to work full-time, part-time or on a project-to-project basis. There are passionate people looking to make an impact in a variety of ways, so if you have an initiative that needs support, you can likely find interested minds in the WIS network willing to get involved!

Sophia told FindHerFootball in a recap piece of her experience at the NWSL Championship Final,

“As a woman aspiring to work in the sports industry, having the opportunity to learn more about the behind-the-scenes of a major sporting event was invaluable. Personally interviewing players, coaches, and the commissioner provided me with insight into the direction the league is working toward, as well as an insider’s perspective on the league’s internal processes. While it was a fulfilling experience for me, many players also expressed to me how the rise in media coverage boosts their confidence and allows them to feel heard.”

We love to see growing organizations like FindHerFootball have access to hire inspiring candidates like Sophia with the help of the network.

Let’s do this again, and again, and again!
